Cashew Nut Shell (CNS) Oil Pressing Solution

Cashew nut shells contain 30–45% oil, known as Cashew Nut Shell Liquid (CNSL), which is one of the most valuable industrial vegetable oils. Although CNSL is not edible, it has extremely high industrial value and is widely used in brake linings, friction materials, resins, coatings, lubricants, and chemical products. It is a high-value non-edible industrial raw material with strong market demand.

Due to the hard structure and high resin content of cashew shells, the pressing process requires heavy-duty equipment. The oil extraction section adopts a twin-screw oil press specially designed for high-temperature and high-resistance materials, ensuring stable operation and high oil yield. The pretreatment section is similar to that of common oilseeds, ensuring efficient and stable preparation before pressing.

Cashew Shell Oil Processing Flow:
Cashew shells→ Cleaning→ Crushing→ Preheating / Conditioning→ Twin-screw pressing→ Crude oil filtration→ Crude cashew shell oil + residual shell cake

Pretreatment Process

The pretreatment process for cashew shells is similar to that of other common oilseeds (soybean, sunflower seed, palm kernel, and jatropha). However, the equipment must be manufactured using wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant materials.

1. Cleaning: Vibrating screen + magnetic separator
Removes stones, metals, dust, and shell impurities.

2. Crushing: Heavy-duty crusher
Breaks cashew shells into suitable particle sizes.

3. Flaking: Heavy-duty flaking machine
Produces thin flakes to break oil cells and improve oil release.

4. Cooking / Conditioning:
Controls moisture and temperature to increase oil yield.

5. Drying: Rotary dryer
Reduces moisture content to achieve optimal pressing performance.
